Furniture doesn't fit... any advice on what to do with it?

I once bought a couch that also would not fit in the door (or at least we thought it wouldn't). We actually had to flip it upside down and tilt it at an angle to get it into the doorway and then were able to stand it up longways on one of it's ends to get around the inside. Don't know if you tried taking it in like this but it's worth a shot.
