Why doesnt run.bat work?

haha sorry but this is the sixt time i asked. ok, i am trying to make a minecraft private server... anyways, when i go to the minecraft folder, and double click "run.bat" (to start the server)... the cmd box opens for a split second, then closes. then everything on my computor screen temporarily dissapears. Seriously, whenever i click on anything .bat, or batch, it does this. Even when i right click on it and click edit, everything on the computor screen temprarily disapears. the last answer i got said to navigate to the minecraft folder through cmd, but when i go to cmd, i dont know how to "navigate to the minecraft folder"... any help? please? thanksss
