How can I burn an mp4 video without it glitching?

I downloaded a 1GB movie but it's in mp4 format because it was the only one I could find. It plays fine on my VLC media player but I know as soon as I try n burn it with Roxio the picture will come up all glitchy and distorted ( you know with the flashing colors and everything). My question is IS it actually possible to burn an mp4 video on a pc without the DVD coming out all fu*ked up?
