Why do people say "same-" relationships?

What about people who are transual? Because if you say same relationships, then that means that I can be in a straight and gay relationship with the same person at the same time. Which is f**ked up, so why do people say it? Why not same-gender relationships, or gay relationships? Or something that would make sense.
